C.L. Downey Construction, Inc. is owned and operated by Chris Downey, who is a Firestop Contractor covering North Carolina, South Carolina, and Southern Virgina. We have been installing Firestop since 1995 and in business as a Firestop Contractor since 1997. We specialize in health care, industrial, and commercial construction.


C.L. Downey Construction, Inc. has passed and maintains the two highest level accredited tests in The United States for Firestop Contractors.

  • Factory Mutual (FM 4991)

  • UL Qualified Firestop Contractor
    • As of April 2010, we now carry UL's Qualified Firestop Contractor Certification, which is based on ISO 9000 procedures.

Downey Construction, Inc. has received the most advanced training in the proper installation of Firestop systems at the Corporate Headquarters of the manufacturers listed below.  We have an excellent working relationship with the manufacturer's technical services divisions. This allows us to provide the most cost effective solutions to customers for those situations that cannot utilize UL tested systems.
